The town is equipped with real life tools, equipment and materials which enable children to engage in realistic hands-on activities that promotes: oral language, listening, decision making, problem solving, sorting, sharing, following directions, role-playing, and cooperative learning. Pretend Town is owned and operated by former Chicago Public school Teachers. They have created Pretend Town as an extension of the classroom, emphasizing the relationship between academic subjects and everyday living. Hands-on activities provide children with a wealth of experiences in social studies, math, science, health, safety, and community awareness.
